Information You Send Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is handled by the outside provider that supplies results; our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. When you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use them to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Hosting services create standard logs, including an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or related tools may support basic analytics and, where used, advertising measurement.
How We Use Information
Information supports operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and improvements to the reference. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Links and Search Providers
Links lead to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and outside search tools. The privacy terms of those services govern information submitted there. Sponsored results are supplied by a third party and follow that provider’s policies.
Parties That May Process Data
Providers that host or support the service may process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners can receive the automatic information described above. We disclose data only when required by valid legal process.
Protecting Information
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only as long as needed for the stated purposes. There are no user accounts, so the service does not maintain a visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if a minor may have sent information, and we will remove it.
Your Information Requests
Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information a website keeps about you. Research did not identify an enacted North Carolina consumer-privacy statute with a universal data-broker opt-out, so this policy does not claim one. Because we retain very little, a request normally means reviewing the contact mailbox and relevant server logs, then removing what we find. Use the Contact page. North Carolina state, county, and city public records are outside our control; direct any record-removal request to its custodian.
Policy Changes
Changes to this policy will appear here. Continued use after a posted change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
